Holiday Greetings
Happy Holidays!
Best wishes during this exciting time of year. While we have very important events to look forward to as we move to an election year, it is equally essential to take a minute to remember how valuable it is to serve others.
Whether I was doing my medical training at the VA Hospital in Minneapolis, volunteering at the Fremont Community Clinic working with un- and under insured patients, serving in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, or traveling to Uganda to assistant in the formation of health insurance cooperatives with local dairy farmers- I loved the opportunity to help people and try to improve their lives. And, each person I encountered changed my life by enriching it.
There are many in our community who need help this year. If you can, please take time to donate to a worthy cause or make a resolution to volunteer at a favorite charity in 2010. Your effort will make a wonderful difference in so many people's lives.
With the Holiday Season upon us, I am truly grateful for the support my family has given me since I announced my candidacy in May. With the love of Jim, my husband of 28 years, and my late-night conversations with my 99 year-old mother, I have been so energized on this journey.
Your support has been crucial as well. I cannot thank you enough for your encouragement and guidance during the campaign. I wish you a safe and enjoyable time wherever the season is taking you.
Warmly,

Maureen
